Everything About BBS in Ten Minutes (or less)

There is a recent avalanche of BBS debris dangerously flowing toward us in articles and short workshops. The implication is that you can learn everything about it quickly and go about implementing it in your organization with confidence after one bite-sized taste. It's little wonder there are so many failed and failing BBS programs and processes out there. And if the brevity of information was not bad enough, the quality of the information is even more disturbing than the quantity. Insurance risk managers and one-shot champions from specific sites are suddenly experts telling everyone else that what worked for them will work for you.

In my experience with over 1,100 site implementations of BBS, I have learned exactly how much knowledge it takes to implement, what the range of implementation options are, and that no one formula works for everyone. Trying to duplicate a BBS process from one site to another is a formula for a 5% success rate. Granted, some consultants attempt to mystify and overkill what is needed for success, but even that is better than the gross oversimplifications of late.

If you have recently become an expert via a short article, webinar, or workshop and are excited about how easy a BBS implementation is going to be, PLEASE get a reality check before you proceed.
