I coach leaders in their efforts to shape EHS (environmental, health, and safety) performance and culture. Coaching is about helping people perform to the best of their abilities every time, everywhere. Coaching is not a disciplinary step. When a leader hires me to coach one of their subordinate leaders, I first work to ensure the individual is open to a coaching relationship and understands this is to turn them into a rock star performer, not a tool of last resort.
Next, we align on what behaviors the hiring leader feels the coached leader can improve. Most of the time, the coached leader is surprised by the desired target behaviors. Why? Often because what is desired hasn't been effectively articulated in behavioral terms. Sometimes, they do not know how to. Either way, if you don't have everyone on the same page, that is precisely where to start. Create the page. If you need help, call me; it is one of my specialties.
