What We Can Do Without

I got an email with my Zoom bill attached. I think it was about $15. A year ago, I had barely heard of Zoom and now I use it every week. I have asked my clients if they plan to abandon Zoom or Teams or whatever they have been using and most answer no. Part of the reason for their answer is that they also plan to continue to let certain people work from home rather than coming back to an office. Many have learned that their workers don't require as much direct supervision as they previously used and plan to continue with reduced levels. Some of my international clients are now thrilled they don't have to reimburse travel expenses for their projects and plan to maintain that internet relationship.

What We Can Do Without On a social level many friends and family members have simplified their lives, some even downsizing their homes, since they no longer entertain large groups. People have rediscovered road trips and RVs. They have gone back to simpler values involving family activities at home and small neighborhood interactions.

Interestingly, the pandemic that deprived us of so much also taught us that we can live without some of it.
