Marshall Goldsmith warned us that simply imitating a successful person is not necessarily the magic way to be successful yourself. But networking with successful people will definitely make you think of new ways to be successful. At a conference full of people who have successfully done what I do, many are sharing their ideas and practices with me. The range of possibilities is expanding at a fabulous rate.

Benchmarking with another site or company may not be the magic way to improve safety, but it will definitely expand your range or options and widen your thinking about how to approach your issues. Don't look at the practices of others like a thief waiting for the right time to grab and run, but like a student listening to the master's lecture and gleaning out of it nuggets of wisdom to use as they become masters themselves. Diversity of ideas and approaches can be a rich place to hunt for new ideas.
