Plato told us that necessity is the mother of invention. Great need drives us to creative solutions. The pandemic has created a great need for normalcy, association, and ways to do our jobs with minimal exposure. I have witnessed some remarkable innovation among my consulting clients and sharing their approaches with others has started a synergy of new ideas. Many industries are operating in radically different ways to address the necessities of work and the realities of COVID at the same time.
There are plenty of negative impacts as well and some problems that still don't have solutions. But the real issue is not the conditions, but the people dealing with them. Some simply bemoan their plight while others energetically search for new and innovative ways to move forward. When you are striving to improve safety, do you look at problems and ask why or do you look at excellence and ask why not?
