Possibly one of the ways the pandemic has changed our culture most is getting us to wash our hands regularly and effectively and using disinfectant between washings. More people than ever realize how many times they touch their face every hour and how a virus can be transmitted from your hands to your lungs. We may never know how much this increased use of washing and sanitizing hands has impacted COVID-19, but we know it has. Hopefully, many have formed the habit of regular washing, and sanitizing will remain after the initial phase of this pandemic is past to continue to protect us. I believe we will find over time that this practice will impact our regular strains of influenza even more than it does COVID-19.
